Landscape Design Ideas for Stunning Wooden Decks in Lexington, MA

Each part of your home in Lexington, MA, has a special purpose. Oftentimes, people don’t really think about what purpose their deck has. Of course, it serves as a place to be when the sun is shining and when you’re barbequing with your loved ones. but with the right landscaping, your deck can be more than just a deck. It can be a work of art.

Hot Tub

One cool idea for your deck is to have it wrap around a hot tub. Not only does this make getting in and out easier, but it also gives a modern and sleek feature to your backyard. This particular idea works well if you have a lower deck that doesn’t quite reach the ground because you can have a hot tub that isn’t built in-ground but create the illusion that it is.

Breakfast “Room”

If you’re someone who likes to have their friends over for brunch or tea, one idea to consider would be to add on a little breakfast room to your deck. You can have a corner of the deck re-created to be an octagonal shape where you can put a nice table and chairs in the center of it and take your breakfast room outdoors.

Pond Bridge

Something that is showing up more and more in the New England area is having a pond put into the backyard right by the lowered deck and having a walkway going over it. In this pond you can put koi fish and feed them directly from your wooden deck. The kids will love tossing the fish their food and you’ll love the unique aesthetic that it brings to your home.

Planters

Something you could try would be to have planters installed along the sides of the deck with flowers or simple plants in them. This brings the garden up to your deck. It brightens it up, and it offers a modern and contemporary accent for your deck. Succulents and cacti are becoming the big trend these days, and if you’re looking for a modern twist, these would look very cool in this type of situation.

Multi-Level

With a multi-level deck, you can have separation for each thing that you want to bring to your backyard. You can have a level with your grill on it, a level with a table and chairs, and a level that reaches the bottom with a firepit and comfortable seating for cold nights roasting marshmallows with friends and family.

A Wall of Trees

If you’re wanting to enjoy your deck but you want additional privacy, having a wall of trees planted around the deck will bring your home privacy while also providing natural protection from the sun. If you plant trees that grow flowers, you also get that nice pop of color that accents a wooden deck so beautifully.

Kids Playground

If you want something fun and different that your kids and their friends will thank you for, you could have a play area installed. Things like a slide, swings, and even a climbing wall would go over very well and would provide your kids with outdoor activities for when their friends come over to play.
